We turn 21 this month (whoooo, PARTY!!) and what other sauce should be our Sauce of the Month than Sultry, the first thing we ever made and sold as TorchBearer Sauces? Take a trip down memory lane with us and try not to drool on your screen...
How It All Began
When Ben and Vid were just little babies, they threw dinner parties for their friends and called them Vidians. They made a ridiculous hot marinara sauce (also called Vidian) from the heaps of habaneros they were growing in their backyards.
Once the parties tapered off, they still had loads of these fruity, spicy beasts they needed to find a use for. They thought to themselves "These habs are orange, and so are carrots and oranges. Let's put all the orange things together with some tomatoes and vinegar and bottle them up for friends and family." This is what they did and how Sultry Sauce was born (although it was originally called Hot)!
A Natural Progression
Sultry was a smash hit! It had such a fresh fruity and savory flavor with the perfect amount of heat and a pleasant look. Everyone said the two friends should be selling this stuff and Vid and Ben agreed.

Over time they messed with the amounts of habanero and the other ingredients to create their original line: almost all fruits and veg with very little habanero for the mildest Everyday Sauce, up to an almost criminal amount of habanero in the blend for Slaughter. Each sauce had it's place and by just making these changes, they found every sauce was distinct enough to warrant sticking around.
All Hail The OG
Sauces come and go throughout the years and the team has made some amazing things with wild ingredients (check out out Mushroom Mayhem or Headless Horseradish to see just what they can do with stuff not normally found in your standard hot sauce) but Sultry is always there and ending up in so many people's orders. TorchBearer has even made the OG collection 5-pack to feature those first five sauces that started it all, with Sultry right in the middle.
