Looking for something fun and different to stave off the impending post-holiday gloom? Want to liven up a lackluster Christmas dessert offering? Want to send those awful rugrats into a tizzy? We've got you! Check out these sweet treats with heat and stay warm all winter long!
Hot Sauce: It's Dessert Now!
Saucy pancakes. Sweet, spicy desserts. Chocolate with hot sauce. Why, don't mind if I do.
Savory Pancakes
Let's start with breakfast where we somehow find countless ways to justify eating cake as a legitimate meal. This isn't cinnamon buns or French toast but something so much simpler. Just head over to our Savory Pancake Recipe and let us walk you through a fast and super satisfying breakfast that will set the pace for the rest of your busy day.
What's even better is, if you have a mix ready, you can just add some Sultry Sauce to that and continue on. It really is easy and quick and bound to be something you keep in your repertoire for the foreseeable future.
Cran-Apple Pie with a Kick
Everyone loves a warm apple pie, fresh from the oven. The yearning for that ooey-gooey sweetness feels like it's... ahem... BAKED into our DNA. Now, if you want a slightly spicy twist on this classic, why not add a bit of our Cranberry Jalapeno sauce into the mix?
Simply shake a bit into the filling, mix it in, and bake as normal. Add more for more tang and heat or just a touch for a hint of this unique flavor. We don't have an exact measurement because we like chaos, but try not to go too wild. The flavor of the jalapeno can shine through a little more than you may want if you are heavy handed.
Spicy Fudge
We are fudge people over here at TorchBearer and it always shows up at parties and sometimes Jo brings some in to make a particularly hard week a bit more palatable. It's fairly quick to make and incorporating some spice couldn't be easier.
Basically, start your fudge how you normally would. Get that double boiler out and melt your chocolate, butter, and condensed milk together. You know all this (or you can Google it).
Next, you'll want to use a milder, sweeter hot sauce. We like Tingly or Sweet Onion Habanero. Mix about a teaspoon of sauce with a tablespoon of melted butter. Add about a teaspoon of cinnamon to your melted chocolate mixture then mix in your butter/sauce mixture. Pour this all into a foil-lined pan and pop it in the fridge for 4 hours or so. Once it sets, it's ready to be cut up and tasted. That little bit of spice really livens up the fudge and will keep everyone coming back for more.
The Sweetest Folks Around
That's another one in the (recipe) books! We can't wait to hear how some of these went over with the fam or if you just locked yourself in your bedroom and ate an entire pie at 1 AM. In any case, send us food pics, write us suggestions or alternate recipe ideas, or just ship us a piece of fudge wrapped in a napkin (actually, don't do that last one). We hope you all have a fine holiday and a happy new year.
Be sweet and stay spicy!
